Sea To Sky Extreme Enduro 2020: Race Report

Sea to Sky 2020 - The 11th Edition of the World-Famous Extreme Enduro Race

The 11th edition of the Sea to Sky extreme enduro race in Turkey took place on 23rd-26th September. It is rated by many as one of the best extreme enduro races on earth. Even in this uncertain period of Covid-19, a number of high profile riders still managed to make the trip, including Graham Jarvis, Billy Bolt (both on the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna TE 300i bikes) and our sponsored rider; Jonathan Richardson, who was using our AS3 Performance Skid Plate, Radiator Braces & Brake Disc Guards throughout the 4 day event. The format this year included: Beach, Forest, Sky and Mountain races.

Sea to Sky 2020 - Day 1 (Qualification & Beach Race)

Day 1 saw 2 qualification runs on Kemar Beach, where both times were combined to give the final qualification results for the start to the Beach Race in the afternoon. Billy Bolt qualified fastest with Ihor Proschchyn 2nd and Sherco Factory Rider Wade Young (who was runner up in last year’s event) 3rd. Other big names included the Sherco Factory Rider Mario Roman on his Sherco 300 SE Factory bike in 4th, Graham Jarvis in 7th and Jonathan Richardson up there in 10th.

In the Beach Race itself, Billy Bolt took the win ahead of Mario Roman and Wade Young. Jonathan Richardson improved on his earlier performance and finished well up there in 7th position at the start of the first day.

Sea to Sky 2020 - Day 2 (Forest Race)

Day 2 consisted of a Forest race and was won by Billy Bolt again, who retained the lead, followed closely by Mario Roman in 2nd place and Graham Jarvis moving up the order into 3rd place. Jonathan Richardson slipped 1 place but remained firmly in the top 10 in 8th place on the day.

Sea to Sky 2020 - Day 3 (Sky Race)

Day 3 saw a maiden “Sky Race” take place, which was again won by the dominant Billy Bolt, with SuperEnduro specialist Teodor Kabakchiev on his KTM 300 EXC finishing 2nd in this race and Graham Jarvis in 3rd. Jonathan Richardson had a strong day again, finishing in 9th position.

Sea to Sky 2020 - Day 4 (Mountain Race)

Day 4 saw Graham Jarvis produce a classic performance when it mattered to take the win as Billy Bolt and Mario Roman were sent off-course by old course marking. Graham Jarvis can never be written off and on the final and meaningful day’s racing at the 2020 Sea to Sky Hard Enduro in Turkey, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider turned things on their head to take the day win after a great performance on the tough Mountain course. Graham’s time of 2:28:15 put him into overall 1st place on accumulative time across the four days to take his 6th win at Sea to Sky. Wade Young on his Sherco 300 SE Factory Bike also put in a great ride behind Jarvis on day four to reach the top of the Olympos mountain 2nd on the day and seal 2nd position again, like in 2019. Billy Bolt had to settle for 3rd on the podium overall in the end, despite winning the opening Beach Race, before topping both the subsequent Forest and Sky Races. He led much of Saturday’s Mountain Race but track marking tape left from a previous running of the event sent him and Mario Roman in the wrong direction, therefore losing him time and the overall win.

Our AS3 Performance rider Jonathan Richardson improved again in the Mountain Race and managed to climb to an incredible 6th position overall. This was despite losing valuable time during this last stage due to a damaged clutch after a crash. If it wasn’t for this, an even higher position could have been possible. We look forward to seeing how he gets on next season when he will be riding for the new Jarvis Race Team, set up by the enduro legend; Graham Jarvis.
