AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #41

2024 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) recommences

Rounds 3 & 4, Victoria, Australia

Our Supported Beta Motorcycles Australia Enduro Race Team was at Mount Misery, Victoria at the weekend, competing on dusty, highly technical tracks in low temperatures for Australia. The days were long, with Round 3 on the Saturday consisting of 7 sprint-format tests and Round 4 on the Sunday consisting of 5 sprint-format tests, the latter having more challenging conditions!

Andy Wilksch - Beta 350 RR Racing

On the Saturday in Round 3, Wilksch had a great day's racing, placing 3rd Overall and 2nd in the highly competitive E2 Class. On the Sunday in Round 4, he continued with a high pace, coming 4th in both the Overall and E2 Class. He commented on the race - "A home race for me, with tracks that were very challenging, with similar characteristics to some of the gruelling tracks I’ve raced in Portugal. I started really strong on Saturday and am pleased with how both the bike and I are performing in a short space of time. I’m happy to get good results on the board and looking forward to building on from here.” Congrats to Andy! He currently sits P3 Overall for the E2 Class Championship.

Jye Dickson - Beta 480 RR Racing

Coming back from a hand injury, Dickson performed well on the Saturday, coming 6th Overall and 2nd in the E3 Class in Round 3. On the Sunday in Round 4, he was leading the E3 Class after 3 tests, but then unfortunately crashed and lost over a minute to relinquish the lead. He come home in 3rd place, a mere 16 seconds off 2nd place and he took 9th Overall. Jye commented on his weekend - "Since sustaining the hand injury in training ahead of RD 1 & 2, I’ve only managed to get a few weeks on the bike so I did struggle with my bike fitness throughout the weekend. However, Saturday went well, but I was off the pace from where I’d like to be. Sunday looked to be a better day with me leading the class after 3 tests, but a crash saw me lose the lead and finish the day 3rd in class. I’m happy to get some good points towards the Championship and build on the fitness before the next race.” Well done to Jye who currently sits P4 Overall for the E3 Class Championship.

Fraser Higlett - Beta 480 RR Racing

In Round 3, Higlett came 10th Overall and 3rd in the E3 Class, meaning with Dickson taking 2nd in the same Class, Beta had two riders on the podium. In Round 4, Higlett couldn't find his usual pace unfortunately, coming home in 5th place. Congrats to Fraser and he currently sits tied P3 Overall for the E3 Class Championship.

In Round 3, she finished the day with a 4th place in the EW Class and battled on the Sunday in Round 4 to finish with another 4th place. Congrats to Ebony and she sits P4 Overall for the EW Class Championship.

Other Supported Rider Updates

One of our new Supported Enduro Riders - Kyle Larsen - competed in the Muddy Butt race in Idaho, USA at the weekend on his Beta 300 RR. The course consisted of tight single-track, with plenty of logs and roots and the odd mud hole. This was Kyle's first time doing the event and he came 4th as part of a team in the B Class. Well done to Kyle.

Our Supported Junior Motocross Rider Ollie Hain, competed in Round 1 of the Aberdeen & District MX Club Champs at Rhynie at the weekend. He was racing his brand new GasGas MC 50 for the first time in the Auto Class. On a hard pack track with deep rutted corners, compacted straights and big braking bumps, Ollie went 2-2-2 for 2nd Overall. His lap times were within 1 second of the 1st placed rider and since he was racing his bike for the first time, plus has been predominantly practicing on sand tracks in the off-season, raced really well. Congrats to Ollie!
