AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #8

We Head To Arnhem For The MXGP of The Netherlands

Sunday 20th Aug 2023, Arnhem

On Sunday, we were in The Netherlands at the sand track of Arnhem for Round 16 of the FIM World Motocross Championship. The weather was very hot, making the track dry, soft and dusty. It was the first time that Arnhem was hosting an MXGP event and we saw great racing from 4 classes - EMX250, WMX, MX2 & MXGP.

EMX250 Class

Italian Championship leader Andrea Bonacorsi won the overall with a 2-2 to make it 3 GP wins for the season. The Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team rider has been on the podium in every round so far and extended his championship lead this weekend! 2nd overall was Fantic Racing MX's Dutch rider Cas Valk with another Dutchman 3rd overall in BT Racing Team's Kay Karssemakers on his Husqvarna.

WMX Women's Class

It was the perfect weekend for home hero and "Queen of sand" Lotte Van Drunen, with a dominant 1-1 for her first ever GP career win. The young Dutch Kawasaki KX 250 F rider put on a sand riding masterclass, cheered on by her adoring home fans. RFME GasGas WMX Team's Spanish rider Daniela Guillen secured 2nd overall with 3rd going to Fantic Racing MX's Dutch rider, Lynn Valk, sister of EMX250's Cas.

MX2 Class

With a 3-2, Belgian Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Liam Everts won the overall, being consistently on the podium of late and earning his 2nd GP win of the season. Another Belgian, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing's Lucas Coenen was rapid all weekend but due to a crash in Race 1, went 6-1 for 2nd overall. Rounding off the podium was German rider Simon Längenfelder on his Red Bull GasGas who went 1-6. Italian Championship leader Andrea Adamo came 5th overall and still retains the red plate from teammate Liam Everts.

MXGP Class

Kawasaki Racing Team's Romain Febvre secured his 6th GP win of the season. With a mistake leading to a small crash plus a stone stuck in his rear brake in race 1, he showed his usual pace to catch and pass a number of riders before settling for 2nd place. In race 2, he got the holeshot and led from start to finish for a 2-1 on the day. 2nd overall was the ever-consistent Championship leader Jorge Prado on his Red Bull GasGas MC 450 F who leads the Championship by 92 points from Febvre with 3 races to go. 3rd overall on the day and 3rd in the Championship was Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team's Swiss Rider Jeremy Seewer. MRT Racing Team Beta's British interest; Ben Watson, went 11-11 for 10th overall. Nice to see the British rider in the top 10!

Instagram Tag Of The Week

This week, Italian rider and digital creator Diego @_dieguz___ tagged us in his Fantic XE 125 converted to supermoto bike build. He used many of our stand-out parts for this, including rear brake & gear levers with red tips, oil filler plug, front & rear brake master cylinder covers, brake line clamp, plus our chain guide. His idea was and is to completely upgrade and change the look of the bike which, so far, he has done with aplomb. He currently rides with group of friends who all have 125 2 stroke machines converted to supermoto spec and the 17 year-old plans to upgrade to a 450 4 stroke at some point in the future.
