EICMA 2021 - The Worlds Largest Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition

EICMA, the world renowned international motorcycle show finally returned this year after being cancelled in 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic. However, there were some notable big brand omissions from this year's event, including Ducati, BMW plus all of the Pierer Mobility Group brands including KTM, Husqvarna and Gas Gas, all choosing to have their own launch shows for 2022.

Additionally, all Asian motorcycle parts and accessories suppliers were not in attendance either this year, due to being restricted from travelling to Europe as a result of the ongoing pandemic. This meant the show took up a significantly smaller area than usual, but large numbers of the general public still descended on the event.

AS3 Performance used this year's show as an opportunity to have a general look at some of the 2022 off-road bikes on offer, catch up with some of our supported riders and watch motorcycle shows including the new Riot Riders Freestyle Motocross show where we were fortunate enough to have hospitality access and viewing.

Brand New Bikes for 2022

The Fantic Racing range has expanded even more for 2022, with the introduction of the 4-stroke XXF 250 and XXF 450 added to the Motocross market as well as a 4-stroke XEF 450 added to the Enduro market. Made in Italy, the brand is becoming more and more popular, helped by the Fantic Factory Maddii Racing team winning the 2021 EMX250 European Championship with Nicholas Lapucci, as well as the EMX2t with Maximillian Spies!

There are now 4 Fantic models dedicated to Motocross:

And 3 Fantic models dedicated to Enduro:

The Fantic XE 125 was one of three Fantic enduro bikes on display at the show.

Honda had a new range of 4-stroke motocross, enduro and trail bikes on show for 2022, including the CRF 250 RX and CRF 450 RX enduro bikes. The 250 now runs the same light-weight chassis as the 450, as well as more engine torque, improving massively on manoeuvrability and nimbleness.

Honda displayed a huge range of off-road bikes at Eicma 2021 including the CRF 250 RX Enduro bike.

The Suzuki RM-Z 250 and RM-Z 450 were both on display with their new aggressive styling for 2022. Suzuki aim to gain the winning balance, not just from the fuel-injected, DOHC engine to extract maximum performance out of the power plant, but also from using the most up-to-date rider technology, including the latest Suzuki Hole-shot Assist Control (S-HAC) as well the latest traction management system.

    Riot Riders FMX Show

We joined the riders James Trincucci and Davide Rossi in the Red Bull hospitality area to watch their newly formed Riot Riders FMX show. They used EICMA 2021 as a launch-show for the team, which proved a huge success, drawing big crowds and new fans. It was interesting for us at AS3 Performance to speak to the riders about the set-up of their bikes and rider needs specifically for Freestyle Motocross as this is an area of the industry that we have little experience in and it was great to learn from the riders and discuss the possibility of products that could help and benefit them in freestyle motocross.

We watched 10 riders pull off heart-in-mouth stunts with meticulous timing and skill, including this Super Train for the grand finale. Davide and James both ride the Kawasaki KX 450 F for freestyle as the bigger 4-stroke motor gives them the power required to manoeuvre the bike and clear the jumps with ease.

    AS3 Performance Supported Riders

We caught up with some of our supported riders including Alberto Moseriti who we support with Supermoto and Enduro parts. He competes in the AMA Supermoto Championship and we met up with him at the PZ5 Cobra stand, who are the main sponsors for him and his bike.

EICMA 2021 was a good snapshot of what we can expect to see in 2022. Even though it was smaller this year there was still plenty to see. We look forward to next year's event where hopefully it will be back up to full capacity and maybe sometime in the future we can exhibit at the show to give our European customers a chance to meet us and discuss current and future AS3 Performance products, in the mean time though if you have any questions or enquiries feel free to reach out to us by using our Contact page.
