Edgardo Borella Swaps Supermoto for Motocross for 2021

Edgardo Borella retired from Supermoto in 2020 but plans to compete in the Italian Motocross Championship for 2021

After years of riding in the Italian and European Supermoto Championships and winning both championships in 2017 and 2013, respectively, Edgardo decided to retire from Supermoto racing (the last few seasons riding for the FRT Racing team and the FRT Racing 2 Team), but continue racing motocross, competing in the MX1 class of the 2021 Italian Motocross Championship. For 2021 Edgardo will be riding the Husqvarna FC 450 with the plate number 820. He previously raced in Supermoto with the plate number 20. We have supported Edgardo for a few years now and are pleased to continue the support with his motocross career.

Lombardy Regional Championship, Chieve, Round 1:

Borella debuted in the MX1 class in the First Round of the Championship on the weekend 20th / 21st March. He hit the ground running, qualifying fastest for race day! In the first race, he tangled with another competitor at the start, causing him to go down and therefore had to come back from the back of the field. He pushed through well, eventually finishing in 17th position.

In the second race of the day, Borella had a great start and showed great pace throughout the race, finishing in 2nd place! This meant he finished 1st overall for the day in the MX1 class, a perfect result on his debut and the 1st Round of the season.

Thoughts from Edgardo after the first round:

Edgardo commented after the race weekend: "The race day started well with pole position on a really difficult track and I immediately found the right feeling. Too bad for the first race where an opponent at the start made me crash, fortunately without consequences, but the bike had a problem that compromised me throughout race one. In race two, I started well and I kept a good pace and finished second overall. I'm happy to have taken the red plate as championship leader”.
